Burns Nights is traditionally a Scottish event. So why do we have one in the middle of England? Because  most bikes are garaged over winter to protect them from the salt that gets thrown on our icy roads at this time of year. What better way than to get a group of Blue Knights, friends and family together for a good old traditional festival to cheer our Scottish Secretary up with. There is a regimental theme to it, as Gunner was the making of it, and having a military background you can be assured everything goes by the numbers...even the rapid fire clapping.
Regardless, the haggis (having been stalked and freshly killed on the Scottish Highlands) is piped in with the address to the haggis being performed excellently by Jim Gardner of England III. After the Selkirk Grace the haggis is served up with neeps, tatties and washed down with whisky.
A tribute to Robert Burns life through his poetry and song is read out or sung by various speakers.
Following this is the toast to the Lasses and the reply to the lads, sometimes controversial but "done in the best possible taste" as Kenny Everett would say as he flings his legs over each other...........
Other toasts also include The Queen - UKCOPS survivors - Scots present - BK Members present  and absent friends.
Afterwards there is a disco and dancing until the early hours. What a way to while away the dark cold nights! Also as with every BK event/rally funds are raised that go to the UKCOPS charity.
The Burns Night looks as if it's going to be a regular event in Leics and the 2007 event sold out in one week!
