Toy Run brings Christmas cheer to local youngsters 2006

Members of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club held their annual Christmas Toy Run on Saturday (December 16).
Over 20 motorcyclists gathered at Leicestershire Constabulary's Headquarters in Enderby for a barbecue breakfast before escorting a police vehicle laden with toys to Steps, the Leicestershire Conductive Education Centre in Shepshed.
Steps is a Leicestershire-based charity, which cares for children with learning disabilities. Most of the children that attend the centre have cerebral palsy, Down syndrome or other similar condition, which makes motor co-ordination difficult.
Detective Constable Tim Lowe, a member of the Blue Knight England VIII Chapter, said: "Steps is a great local charity and we were delighted to support it with our annual Toy Run.
"The bikes were all decorated with tinsel and Santa, in his full red suit, turned up on a Harley Davidson. When we arrived at Steps the looks on the children's faces was incredible."
Rosemary Conley, who is the patron of Steps, joined a large group of children and parents to watch the arrival of the Toy Run.
The England VIII Chapter, which was set up last year, meets monthly and organises regular meets and ride outs, including the Christmas toy run and an Easter egg run to local hospitals.

This was a successful run to deliver toys to the Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough that cares for children with all sorts of disabilities, especially the terminally ill. It was our first rally as a Chapter and about 30 bikes rode off to deliver the presents, assisted by an traffic patrol car.
